Just recently I have been asked to do works that require certification. Unfortunately I have not gone down the road of registering with a body 'Competant scheme' due to cost. This is because my setup is not worth the price these companies charge. There is a way around this by involving the local building authorities (which I can oversee). It can be a lot more long winded and extra costs have to be involved for the customer but I just wanted to let everyone know this before any time is wasted.
I work mainly outside the usual 9 to 5 as I had the idea to make a little on the side providing a service that is affordable to people who are local to me in the Christchurch, Bournemouth and Highcliffe areas. My charges reflect the diversity I want to set up which includes data, telecoms and fibre as well as domestic electrical works to include socket replacements/ moves, lights, switches and exterior works as well as other electrical jobs. I can also perform PAT testing for those of you who need it in the commercial, catering and hospitality sectors.
